At the moment it´s like that:
- ELM OBDII WiFi is connected to car via OBDII socket, so this WiFi is "on and available" in the car when ACC is on
- When WiFi is enabled on the iPhone, the phone itself connects automatically to this WiFi network when ACC is on, or I start the engine
- Then I have to start ForScan Light App AND i have to press manually the "connect" Button in the lower left corner of the App
- If done it takes a while until all available car-control modules are read out and the APP is ready for use.
If the APP should be used in this "trip computer mode" as you name it, it would be much more comfortable if this steps are done with minimum user input.
So in my opinion it should work that way:
Pre-Conditions which must be fulfilled:
- ELM WiFi must be connected to the car
- WiFi must be ON on the iphone
- ACC is on or engine is started
- Start ForScan App manually on the iphone
(until here same procedure as for "normal" use as it is today)
Now "my" changes would come in place:
- When the APP get´s started, first ask "Normal mode or trip computer mode"
- If user chooses "normal" mode, just start the app as it is now, user must press "connect button", get´s the HS/MS question and so on.
BUT:
-If user chooses "trip computer mode" then the APP should "connect" automatically via ELM Wifi to the car´s HS CAN control modules, not asking HS/MS, and start up in a "user - predefined view" with the parameters, the user has pre-defined once before.
It also could be an option, to start the APP always in the trip computer mode, once this is set in the APP as of user request. Could be realized like that:
APP is started once normally as it is today, via a special menu the user can set his "trip computer" parameters and views AND choose if the APP is started ALWAYS in this mode. This all is saved in a config file and when the APP is started the next time, it comes up with the trip computer mode and the use only has to start the APP without pressing any other button on the phone.
When started in this mode, there should then of course be a possibility to switch to normal mode as well.
Hope my Idea comes around a bit clearer now.
Never the less, thank you very much for your efforts so far!
